Dr Roger Wise
Founder and Director
Roger Wise founded Ultrawise in 2016 based on long experience in the welding and joining industry, as well as time in product development in a VC funded start-up. He is the inventor on more than 5 patents, and has written a book, the Thermal Welding of Polymers. He is passionate about efficient joining from perspectives of light weighting, process understanding, and design for disassembly/recycling. He has been a plastic welding consultant, specialising on ultrasonic welding support for more than 10 years.
He also has a strong interest in biological systems in both joining, for example bone fracture healing, and the development of prototype medical devices. The prototype design process follows a 'design for X' approach from specification to realisation, driven by regular reviews with an experienced team who represent the priorities features and functions of the product.
In 1999, Roger Wise gained his PhD in ultrasonic welding from the University of Cambridge, and published a book, the Thermal Welding of Polymers.
